Former MLS stars Alphonso Davies and Tyler Adams face off in high-stakes Bundesliga clash

Tyler Adams - RB Leizpig - stands over Alphonso Davies - Bayern Munich

Two of the best young talents to ever hail from MLS faced off in a massive Bundesliga matchup between Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig on Sunday.

Vancouver Whitecaps Homegrown Alphonso Davies started for Bayern, while former New York Red Bulls star Tyler Adams featured in the XI for Leipzig, with both going the full 90 minutes in the match, which eventually ended in a 0-0 draw. The stakes couldn't have been much higher going into the match, with just one point separating second-place Leipzig from league-leading Bayern, who managed to maintain their slim lead with Sunday's result.

While the game didn't feature any goals, both youngsters demonstrated their quality, with Davies conjuring up a couple of particularly impressive highlights showcasing the dynamic attributes that led to last year's lucrative transfer to the German powerhouse.

Adams, meanwhile, held his own at his right wingback spot, managing to help Leipzig to the clean sheet against a perennially world-class Bayern side.

Davies, a 19-year-old Canadian international, first made his name with the Whitecaps where he emerged as the best young prospect the franchise has ever produced before last year's then-record sale. The 20-year-old Adams is widely touted as one of the beacons of hope for the future of the US men's national team. Whether Adams and and his underdog RB Leipzig can manage to improbably top Davies and a Bayern side that has been virtually untouchable in recent years with seven straight league titles will certainly be an interesting subplot for fans of MLS to keep an eye on through the rest of the Bundesliga season.
