Former MLS midfielder Michael Lahoud completes Austin FC's inaugural broadcast team

Michael Lahoud - Austin FC - tv analyst

Austin FC announced Thursday that former MLS midfielder Michael Lahoud has joined the expansion club as their English language TV analyst for the 2021 season.

Lahoud will join English language TV broadcaster Adrian Healey for all regionally-televised regular-season games. He most recently worked as a television analyst on Longhorn Network TV for the University of Texas at Austin women’s soccer and the ACC Network for ACC men’s soccer.

“This is a dream come true for me,” Lahoud said in a release. “I moved to Texas in 2019, and I’ve been watching Austin FC grow since I first arrived just down the road in San Antonio. Austin FC is the most exciting new team in sports today, so to have the chance to add my experience as a former player to the club’s English language broadcasts is an honor. I’m going to learn a huge amount from Adrian and can’t wait to start in a city like Austin.”

During his MLS career, Lahoud had two goals and eight assists across 122 appearances (86 starts). His MLS career ran from 2009 through 2015, first at Chivas USA and then the Philadelphia Union.

Originally a first-round pick in the 2009 SuperDraft, Lahoud has been capped four times by Sierra Leone’s national team. He also played for FC Cincinnati before their MLS jump, and retired after the 2019 campaign with San Antonio FC.

“Michael is a fresh voice and a rising star. I am thrilled to welcome him to our broadcast team and to Austin FC,” Healey, Austin FC’s executive director of broadcast and content, said in a release. “Michael brings a wealth of experience in the sport, particularly MLS, to our broadcasts. I know our fans are going to enjoy the knowledge, insights and perspective he will bring.”

Most of Austin FC’s games will be broadcast on CW Austin, while the remainder will air on either NBC Austin or MyNetworkTV.
