Uriel Antuna, one of the LA Galaxy's young revelations of the 2019, is officially headed to Liga MX.

Chivas Guadalajara announced the signing of the 22-year-old winger on Thursday morning. Antuna was on loan with the Galaxy from Manchester City for the 2019 season, and though some reports had the Galaxy in the mix to re-acquire him despite a potentially high outlay, he ultimately opted to join one of the most popular teams in his native country.

Antuna's time with the Galaxy is likely to be remembered fondly by the fans and also proved to be pivotal time in the player's career. He immediately established himself as a starter for the Galaxy and did not let go of his place, finishing the season with six goals and five assists across 31 appearances (29 starts).

His strong early play for the Galaxy also earned him attention from Mexico head coach Tata Martino and eventually a call to El Tri's final 2019 Gold Cup team as an injury replacement. He scored a hat trick in the tournament opener against Cuba and went on to appear in every game as Mexico won the tournament.

The official news of Antuna's move to Chivas follows the end of Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic's time in Southern California, meaning that things will look a bit different in the Galaxy attack in 2020. The club has been linked to a number of high-profile attacking players, both in head coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto's native Argentina, as well as Europe-based stars such as PSG forward Edinson Cavani.
