Former FC Cincinnati and Vancouver Whitecaps captain Kendall Waston has a new home.

The Costa Rican international has returned to Saprissa where his career began, signing with the domestic powerhouse after his contract option with Cincy was declined for 2021.

Waston, 33, started 17 of Cincy's 23 games in 2020. He was acquired from Vancouver ahead of their expansion season for $750,000 in allocation money, the second-highest mark for a defender in league history at the time

All in all, Waston made 157 MLS appearances after arriving in Vancouver during the summer of 2014. He was a two-time MLS Best XI selection (2015, 2017).

Waston is a regular with the Costa Rican national team and featured for the country at the 2018 World Cup.
