Flex scheduling for Week 28 to highlight Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs push

Diego Chara - Portland Timbers - Close up

As the race for the final spots in the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs heat up, some flex scheduling will be on display during Sept. 15 broadcasts on ESPN and FS1.

That means the Portland Timbers and D.C. United will appear on ESPN that Sunday (3:30 pm ET), while the LA Galaxy and Sporting Kansas City will square off on FS1 (10 pm ET). All four teams are chasing playoff berths, with 11 of 14 spots still up for grabs across both conferences.

As part of the shifts, the Sunday matchup between the Seattle Sounders and New York Red Bulls has been moved to 6 pm ET and ESPN+. All games are taking place during Week 28 of the 2019 regular season.

Flex scheduling allows allows national broadcast partners to select the most compelling matches and pivotal moments throughout the league. Said partners will also take advantage of the flex schedule process on Sept. 22 and 29.

The regular season will wrap up on Oct. 6 with MLS Decision Day presented by AT&T, featuring 12 simultaneous matches with all 24 MLS clubs.
