First place battle for Wizards, Revs

have that killer instinct -- we know we can do better. It was nice to come back and get the win, but we still need to build on our performances when we're getting leads because we are giving too many of them away."
• For the Revolution, it was a fourth victory in their last five matches on the road. But they are looking to reproduce that form at home - dating back to the last visit by Kansas City, they've won just one of their last six home games, with a win and four draws in their last five.
• "We can't really blame it on anything at home ... on the road, it's a heightened concentration that the team has," Larentowicz said. "Being top of the table and coming here - where they're not doing as well - you might still feel like the favorite, but on the road you got the fans going against you and you always have that little edge where you feel like the underdog."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS
The Kansas City Wizards also continued their turnaround, running their unbeaten streak to four matches with a late 3-2 victory against Chivas USA on Sunday evening at Arrowhead Stadium. The Wizards are now in second place in the Eastern Conference with 29 points from 18 matches, one point behind the Revolution for the top spot, and two points ahead of the third-place New York Red Bulls.

LAST MATCH
• The Wizards had won just once in their last eight games, while Chivas USA were coming off just the fifth road victory in the club's history, but already the second this season, three nights earlier at New York.
• The visitors took the lead in the 17th minute when Ante Razov found Jonathan Bornstein cutting into the area from the left. Stopped momentarily by Jack Jewsbury and goalkeeper Kevin Hartman, well off his line, Bornstein reached behind himself as the ball popped up and hooked a shot underneath Hartman for his first goal on the campaign.
• Six minutes later the Wizards had a glorious chance to pull level when Davy Arnaud was tripped up driving into the box, but Brad Guzan saved Carlos Marinelli's penalty kick with ease. But the Wizards still drew level on 38 minutes through a stunning goal, a wicked strike by Kerry Zavagnin from all of 30 yards that whistled narrowly inside the angle of crossbar and post.
• Arnaud nosed Kansas City in front after the break when his freekick from the left flank skipped past a lunging Jimmy Conrad in the goalmouth and a static Guzan, finding its way inside the far side netting (53). But it took Chivas just two minutes to recover, as John Cunliffe took a pass in the penalty area and curled a left-footed effort around Hartman and into the back of the net.
• In the 89th minute, Movsisyan gave the Wizards a fortunate winner. Retrieving a pass on the left, he was able to run at the Chivas defense before lashing a shot from the left corner of the box that took a slight deflection and looped over Guzan inside the far post for his fifth goal on the year.
• Wizards head coach Curt Onalfo made one change to the team that played to a 2-2 draw with the Colorado Rapids the Saturday before. Jose Burciaga Jr. was sent off in that match, so Ryan Raybould took his place on the left side of the back four.
• Here's Onalfo's team (4-3-1-2): Kevin Hartman - Jack Jewsbury, Jimmy Conrad, Nick Garcia, Ryan Raybould (Yura Movsisyan 82) - Sasha Victorine (Ryan Pore 74), Kerry Zavagnin, Michael Harrington - Carlos Marinelli (Kurt Morsink 91+) - Eddie Johnson, Davy Arnaud. Substitutes Not Used: Michael Kraus, Eric Kronberg, Tyson Wahl, Lance Watson

TEAM NEWS
• Onalfo showed his desire to take the full three points at home and keep the Wizards in touch with the Revolution when, in a 2-2 game, he brought on two additional forwards as substitutes. Onalfo finished the game with starters Eddie Johnson and Davy Arnaud, plus substitutes Ryan Pore and Yura Movsisyan, all on the field.
• "[The win was] huge. It was a team effort. We didn't make it easy on ourselves, certainly, but we found a way," said Onalfo. "We took risks at the end of the game ... and [they] paid off."
• It was the fifth time this season the Wizards have scored a goal after the 80th minute to win a game. "We obviously have a lot of character and a lot of heart. We understand that it might take a while, but we are confident in each other and keep going and even if it means until the 90th minute," Davy Arnaud said.
• Movsisyan had endured a rough patch where over a three-game span he had 11 shots at goal, but didn't find the back of the net. However he has now scored twice in his last four games, the goal against Chivas coming after he was limited to just eight minutes in a substitute appearance against Colorado a week earlier before having to come off. Movsisyan's five goals are second on the team.
• "That's the way it is for forwards. Sometimes the ball just goes in the back of the net and other times it doesn't," said Onalfo. "But the important thing is to encourage him to keep taking risks and keep sending numbers forward and keep being dangerous, and our guys did it right to the end."
• The Chivas game ended a three-match home run for the Wizards when they got things back on track, winning twice and getting a draw.
• "You have to take advantage of the opportunities you have at home. We had a great crowd tonight who were behind us, and you have to get three points, especially after New England won [Saturday]. That was a big game for us to get the three points going into New England," Arnaud said.
• After having gone three-plus seasons without scoring a goal, Kerry Zavagnin now has three goals this season - a career single-season best. Before scoring in the season's third game this year, Zavagnin's last goal came Oct. 11, 2003 against Los Angeles; his last two goals this season have come from outside the area.
• "All year coaches have been encouraging me to take shots from distance. It isn't something that I will do every game, but I think that I have proved that I can score from there," he said.
