BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. ā A few notes from the Fireās Tuesday-morning training session:
First XI will play in US Open Cup play-in match:
Expect the Fire to use a first choice lineup in Wednesdayās US Open Cup play-in match against Colorado in Peoria. Head coach Carlos de los Cobos told media Tuesday that Wednesdayās lineup will be similar to the one that beat Kansas City 3-2 last Saturday.
āOur intention is to try to win the game,ā he said. āWeāll have a very similar lineup to the last match.ā
De los Cobos didnāt play his starters in his one previous Open Cup match ā a bad shootout loss to the USLās Charleston Battery.
āLast season we had a bad presentation in this tournament,ā he said. āWeāre going to try to correct things this year.ā

Starting center back Josip Mikulic (at right) could miss Wednesdayās game after injuring his quad during Tuesdayās practice. The 24-year-old Croatian has played well in both of the Fireās first two games, and de los Cobos said he'll play if healthy.
āIf heās ready to play, heāll play,ā de los Cobos said. āBut I still need to ask the doctor how he is at this moment.ā
De los Cobos said that Dasan Robinson or Yamith Cuesta will fill in if Mikulic isnāt able to go.
Midfielders Bratislav Ristic (hip flexor) and Marko Maric (hamstring) trained lightly on Tuesday, doing some simple ball work on the sidelines. They wonāt be available for Wednesdayās match.
Defender Steven Kinney (achilles) and midfielder Mike Banner (achilles) have yet to return to training and wonāt play at any point in the near future.
Manchester United reaction
Fire players and coaches are excited for their July friendly against English club Manchester United.
āItās exciting,ā said de los Cobos. āItās a great opportunity for the players against one of the best teams in the world. For us, itās a privilege to play against this team and I think everybodyās excited for the chance.ā
The match, which will be held at Chicagoās Soldier Field, will be played a little more than a year after the Fire took on Italian club AC Milan in a friendly at Toyota Park.
āI think itās going to be very exciting,ā midfielder Baggio Husidic told MLSsoccer.com. āPlaying Milan last year was a cool opportunity, but to have the chance to go up against Man U, you canāt even describe it.ā
