FCD notebook: Ruiz out for Saturday

Ruiz out on Saturday:
FC Dallas forward Carlos Ruiz will not travel with the team Friday to Salt Lake City and will be out for the team's match on Saturday evening with Real Salt Lake. Ruiz suffered a bone bruise to his right ankle late in the club's match at D.C. United last Saturday night. He is scheduled to leave for Guatemala to train with his national team, but the exact date of when leaves is yet to be determined. Guatemala will play in a World Cup Qualifier with Costa Rica on Wednesday. He is suspended from playing in Guatemala's Qualifier with Mexico tomorrow. Right now it looks like Ruiz will return to Dallas on Thursday, June 9 to train with FC Dallas on Friday before their match with Chicago on Sunday, June 12.

Reserve Game on Sunday: FC Dallas will be without six of their 27 players signed on their roster this weekend during their MLS match on Saturday and their reserve division game on Sunday. Richard Mulrooney (right ACL tear), Carey Talley (fractured ribs), Carlos Ruiz (right ankle bone bruise), Eddie Johnson (U.S. national team), Greg Vanney (U.S. national team) and Ramon Nuñez (Honduras U-20 team) will all be absent when the squad takes the field with Real Salt Lake. With only 21 roster players traveling, the team will add four more for the reserve game on Sunday. The four players are listed below:

Midfielder Jonathan Pulido attended Florida International in Miami from 2002-2004 and recorded a team-high nine goals to help lead his team to a 14-5-3 mark. Pulido appeared in his first reserve game last Sunday at DC United. He played 24 minutes at the center back position after subbing in for Drew Moor in the 66th minute.

Forward Freddie Garcia Jr. is the son of former Dallas Tornado player. He trained with the team for most of spring training and occasionally during the season.

Midfielder Matt Evans and forward Matt Broadhead are two players from Utah that will participate in the reserve match with FC Dallas on Sunday. They both are former players of the third division team, the Utah Blitzz.
