Led by a hat trick from trialist Jiro Toyama, four players scored at least twice as Minnesota United opened their preseason with a 9-2 victory over USL League One outfit FC Tucson Tuesday in Arizona.

Rasmus Schuller had a first-half brace, while Mason Toye and Romario Ibarra matched that feat after halftime, only to be outdone by Toyama, who was also on trial with the club last preseason.

He was one of seven players not under contract to feature for Minnesota, including both goalkeepers.

The Loons step up in class on Saturday to face Tucson's parent club and MLS expansion aspirants Phoenix Rising FC.
