Paxton Pomykal - FC Dallas - vs. Tulsa in US Open Cup

DALLAS ā€“ FC Dallasā€™ quest to defend their 2016 US Open Cup title began in dramatic, but successful fashion.

FCD sweated out a skin-of-the-teeth 2-1 victory over the Tulsa Roughnecks at Westcott Field on the campus of Southern Methodist University on Wednesday night, relying on a very late own goal off Roughnecks defender Modou Jadama.

FCD Homegrown Coy Craft opened the scoring after half an hour, but former Colorado Rapids standout Kosuke Kimura stroked home a second-half equalizer to give the USL underdogs hope.

The defending champs rolled out more of their regulars, subbing in Michael Barrios and Tesho Akindele, and the decision paid off in stoppage time when Barrios caromed a shot off Jadama.
