FC Dallas sign veteran midfielder Eric Alexander

Eric Alexander – FC Cincinnati – dribbling

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signed

Veteran midfielder Eric Alexander was waived by FC Cincinnati on Tuesday. On Friday he returned to a familiar club.

FC Dallas signed Alexander after the 31-year-old made six appearances for the Orange & Blue earlier this year. Alexander returns to Dallas after starting his career with FCD. He was drafted by Dallas in the third round (44th overall) of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. He helped Dallas win the 2010 Western Conference Championship and made 39 appearances over two seasons, scoring two goals and adding three assists before being traded to the Portland Timbers.

In all, Alexander has made 218 regular-season and 14 playoff appearances during a 10-year MLS career. He’s scored 10 goals and handed out 26 assists across that span.

Alexander figures to add some depth and veteran leadership to a central midfield group that includes Paxton Pomykal, Bryan Acosta, Edwin Cerrillo and Brandon Servania.
