FC Dallas sign defender Walker Zimmerman to new contract

FC Dallas signs Anibal Chala

FC Dallas locked up an important piece of their backline on Thursday, when they announced that they’ve signed center back Walker Zimmerman to a new contract.

Per league and club policy, specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The seventh overall pick in the 2013 SuperDraft, Zimmerman graduated from his Generation adidas contract following last season. He has appeared in 37 regular season matches in his MLS career, including 20 in 2015.

The 22-year-old was at the center of Dallas’ dramatic Western Conference Semifinal win against the Seattle Sounders last fall, entering in the 84th minute of the second leg, scoring the series-tying goal in stoppage time and burying the game-winning penalty kick to send FCD to the Western Conference Championship series.

Zimmerman had spent part of the offseason on trial with various clubs in Norway and Sweden before re-signing with Dallas.
