Rey Ortiz - FC Cincinnati

FC Cincinnati have signed midfielder Rey Ortiz, the club announced Friday. FCC selected Ortiz with the No. 29 overall pick in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft.

Ortiz, 23, excelled for four seasons at the University of Portland, where he had 14 goals and added 26 assists in 64 appearances. He is a product of the LA Galaxy academy.

“We feel Rey has earned a contract with what he has shown throughout preseason,” FCC GM Gerard Nijkamp said in a statement. “He had an opportunity to showcase his ability and we believe he has adapted well to the professional environment, both on and off the pitch.”

Ortiz was the club's top SuperDraft selection, after the No. 3 overall pick was traded to Inter Miami in exchange for $150,000 in General Allocation Money

Ortiz stays with the club ahead of their season debut on March 1 against the New York Red Bulls.
