Djiby Fall - FC Cincinnati - US Open Cup vs. Columbus

CINCINNATI – Upstart USL club FC Cincinnati earned a storybook ending in front of a record number of fans Wednesday night, defeating Columbus Crew SC in the first-ever matchup between the two clubs.

Despite Columbus starting a nearly full-strength lineup, Cincinnati’s deep back line stifled Columbus for the full 90 minutes and a towering header by forward Djiby Fall in the 64th minute proved the winner in the 1-0 affair.

A massive crowd of 30,160 watched the match at Nippert Stadium, a new record for a non-final Open Cup match.
