FC Cincinnati 0, Chicago Fire FC 0 | 2020 MLS Regular Season Match Recap

Bobby Shuttleworth made three saves, including two from very close range to help Chicago Fire FC earn a 0-0 draw against FC Cincinnati at Nippert Stadium on Wednesday night.

Ignacio Aliseda had a potential go-ahead goal midway through the second half for Chicago correctly disallowed for a handball, and the Fire were arguably the better side after halftime. But unlike eight days ago in their 3-0 win over Cincy in their long-awaited return to Soldier Field, they couldn't find the finishing touch.

Cincy's Maikel van der Werff and Jurgen Locadia had the best opportunities for Cincinnati, who started brightly but faded as the match progressed. A point each was the fair result in a match that saw only four efforts on target combined between the sides.

Three Things

  • THE BIG PICTURE: Cincinnati haven't scored yet since the regular season resumed, and they still have three points to show for it. Obviously, they'll need to start scoring again. At the same time, over a handful of games it's the kind of pragmatism that just might make the difference between finishing above the playoff line or below it.

  • MOMENT OF THE MATCH:
For a brief moment, Chicago appeared to have taken the lead through Aliseda, but the goal was overturned for a handball on

    MAN OF THE MATCH:
    Kendall Waston
. The Costa Rican international center back was in the middle of every aerial service into Cincinnati's penalty area, and even leaped to block
    Djordje Mihailovic
's possibly goal-bound free kick in second-half stoppage time from his post in the defensive wall.
