The Three Lions are still in the thick of the Euros, but at least one English columnist wants Jurgen Klinsmann hired as Englandās national team manager.
The Independentās Mark Ogden penned a column on Wednesday advocating for England to hire the US national team manager. Weāre not entirely sure about his reasoning in the wake of Klinsmannās widely questioned tactical decisions in the USās 4-0 loss to Argentina in the Copa America Centenario semifinals on Tuesday night, but everyone has a right to their opinion ā even if they incorrectly claim the US made the quarterfinals at the 2014 World Cup.
The England national team job isnāt the only British gig Klinsmann was tangentially linked to this week.
The German was made the odds-on favorite to be named English Premier League club Southamptonās manager by English betting houses earlier this week. Those wagers took a hit on Thursday, however, when NBC Sportsā Joe Prince-Wright reported that Klinsmann is not on the Saintsā shortlist.
Klinsmann, who spent time with EPL club Tottenham during his playing career, and the USMNT will take on Colombia in the Copa America third-place match on Saturday (8 pm ET; FX, Univision).
