Earthquakes to play in Carolina Challenge Cup

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced today the team will compete in the 2008 Carolina Challenge Cup in Charleston, South Carolina. The tournament will take place at Blackbaud Stadium, on Daniel Island, from March 15th through March 22nd.


Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls, Toronto FC and San Jose Earthquakes will join the United Soccer League First Division Charleston Battery in the fifth year of this Cup. The Earthquakes won the Carolina Challenge Cup in 2004.


All three MLS teams will spend the week in Charleston, training between the games as they prepare for the start for the MLS season.


The competition will consist of three matchday's each featuring a double-header. The games will be played on Saturday March 15th, Wednesday March 19th and Saturday March 22nd, with each team playing the other in a round-robin tournament.
