D.C. United, WMET announce broadcast schedule

WASHINGTON, D.C. - D.C. United and WMET Radio announced today that WMET 1160AM will again be the English radio home of the Black-and-Red. WMET Radio coverage begins on April 2, as United returns to action against the New York Red Bulls. The match marks the first of four games between the Atlantic Cup rivals and will kick off United's 10th Anniversary "Decade of Passion" celebration. WMET Radio will broadcast all 32 of United's Major League Soccer fixtures during the 2006 campaign. In addition to the radio broadcast, live audio streaming for all MLS matches will be available at www.dcunited.com.

Tony Limarzi enters his fourth season as the radio voice of D.C. United. The veteran broadcaster has called numerous important soccer matches at all levels, ranging from the NCAA, to Olympic qualifying, to the MLS All-Star game. In addition to his radio play-by-play, Limarzi has also appeared as a guest analyst on D.C. United Post Game Live airing on Comcast SportsNet. The lifelong Washingtonian graduated from Georgetown University in 1998. Limarzi, his wife Meg and their son Lorenzo live in Silver Spring, MD.


WMET 1160AM announced recently that it will be changing its format from talk radio to a hybrid broadcasting format beginning Friday, March 24th. The powerful and popular "The Greaseman Show" will continue to headline WMET 1160AM's schedule, broadcasting live from 6 to 10 am EST Monday through Friday, with repeats on weekends. In addition to carrying D.C. United game play-by-play, WMET 1160AM broadcasts the George Washington Colonials NCAA men's basketball games.
