The transfer window may be closed, but D.C. Unitedā€™s busy summer just keeps rolling along.

United announced on Thursday that they signed former Columbus Crew SC goalkeeper Steve Clark. The 31-year-old will provide cover for starting goalkeeper Bill Hamid, and give the Black-and-Red a solid option in net for 2018 should Hamid not return to D.C. after his contract expires following the season.

ā€œSteve is a veteran goalkeeper with both MLS and international experience,ā€ D.C. GM Dave Kasper said in a statement released by the club. ā€œHis track record in Major League Soccer is impressive and we are pleased to add another quality player to this team and upgrade our depth at the goalkeeper position.ā€

Clark recorded 22 shutouts in 100 regular season appearances from 2014-2016 with Columbus. He signed with Danish club AC Horsens in January, starting 17 matches for the Superliga side across all competitions before his contract expired in the summer.

The Michigan native began his career with Norwegian club Honefoss, playing four seasons there before joining Crew SC.
