TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
Asad, 25, spent 2018 with D.C. where he was an integral part of the team, with nine goals and eight assists across 30 appearances. He was acquired on loan, but the club couldn't reach an agreement with Velez Sarsfield. His contract with Velez expired in July.
“We are excited to finalize a deal to bring Yamil back to the District," D.C. GM and VP of soccer operations Dave Kasper said in a statement. "He was an integral attacking piece for us during the 2018 season and we look forward to reintegrating him into the team in 2020. Yamil has high soccer IQ and is a great producer of goals and assists while bringing a winning mentality every time he steps on the field.”
Prior to D.C. United, Asad was on loan with Atlanta United in 2017 where he was also productive. He had seven goals and 13 assists in the club's inaugural season.
Asad found playing time hard to come by in his return to Argentina, making just one league appearance.
