DC United reportedly in talks to sign Curacao forward Nigel Robertha

D.C. United are in talks to acquire forward Nigel Robertha from Bulgarian First League side Levski Sofia, according to Saturday reports from The Athletic's Pablo Maurer and Bulgarian journalist Metodi Shumanov.


Per Maurer, the talks to bring Robertha stateside are "serious" as D.C. look to make one of its first big moves under new head coach Hernán Losada. Robertha was born in the Netherlands, and represented the Dutch at various levels on the country's youth international circuit, but is also eligible to represent Curacao. 

The 23-year-old has been with Levski Sofia since 2019, scoring 13 goals in 31 appearances. Prior to that, he played for Dutch second-division side SC Cambuur, where he put up 12 goals in 42 appearances. 


D.C. United currently have four forwards on the first-team roster, led by veteran Ola Kamara. Adrien Perez, Yordy Reyna and Erik Sorga round of the rest of Losada's current options at the position.
