UPDATE (3:05 p.m., Friday): D.C. United announced Friday afternoon that midfielder Chris Durkin has been loaned to Sint-Truidense V.V. in the Belgian First Division A. The deal is set to run through June 2020.

"Over the past two seasons with D.C. United, Chris has managed to gain valuable first-team minutes," Dave Kasper, D.C.'s General Manager and VP of Soccer Operations, said in a release. "We feel he is now ready to test himself in Europe in a very competitive league. We are confident Chris will adapt quickly and show his quality and we will be monitoring his progress closely."

Durkin, 19, had made 13appearances (seven starts) this season, scoring once against the Colorado Rapids.

D.C. United midfielder Chris Durkin appears to be on the move.

Steven Goff of The Washington Post and Pablo Maurer of The Athletic reported on Friday morning that the 19-year-old midfielder will be loaned to Belgian side Sint-Truiden through next May.

Durkin was an integral piece of the US Under-20 national team that competed at this year's World Cup. He started four of the team's five matches in Poland — only missing a game due to yellow-card accumulation — and helped Tab Ramos' team make the quarterfinals. The defensive midfielder has appeared in 36 matches (23 starts) since signing as a Homegrown Player in June 2016. He has recently been sidelined with an ankle injury.

The teenager has been rumored to move abroad multipletimes over the past year, the most serious of which being a reported bid from Bayer Leverkusen that was rejected.
