D.C. United lands new radio home

Washington, D.C. - D.C. United announced today that the club and the 3WT Sports Radio Network have come to a two-year deal which makes WFED 1050 AM the new English radio home of the Black-and-Red. WFED 1050 AM will air all competitive D.C. United games, beginning on March 12th, as United opens CONCACAF Champions' Cup play against Harbour View in Kingston, Jamaica.

In addition to live broadcast of all United first team matches, the partnership calls for a 30-minute postgame show following all broadcasts and a 60-minute, magazine-style pre-game show prior to Saturday matches beginning with the club's home MLS opener April 5. Tony Limarzi enters his sixth season as the radio voice of D.C. United. The veteran broadcaster has called numerous important soccer matches at all levels, ranging from the NCAA, to Olympic qualifying, to the MLS All-Star game. In addition to radio play-by-play, Limarzi has also appeared as a television announcer and analyst on Comcast SportsNet. The lifelong Washingtonian graduated from Georgetown University in 1998. Tony, his wife Meg and their sons Lorenzo and Luca live in Silver Spring, MD.


Studio host Alex Caudana will join Limarzi on United broadcasts this season. Caudana begins his first year behind the mic for the Black-and-Red, serving as the host of the half time and post game show. Caudana has been a freelance reporter covering local professional sports teams and spent the last year as the Capitals locker room reporter for 3WT. Caudana graduated from American Univerity in 2007 and resides in the Washington, DC area.


Talk Radio 3WT (1500 AM and 107.7 FM) launched in September of this year. The station features a diverse array of talk personalities, including David Burd with and Jessica Doyle, The Tony Kornheiser Show, Stephanie Miller, Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck and Neal Boortz. In addition to the production of D.C. United games for WFED, the 3WT Sports Network also features play-by-play of the Washington Nationals, the Washington Capitals, GW Men's Basketball, and Navy athletics.

United's Customer Service Department. Individual tickets for all regular season games, except the June 29 game versus Los Angeles, will go on public sale on Monday, March 3rd. Currently, the only way to obtain tickets to United's game with the Galaxy is through United full season ticket packages.
