DC United acquire Lamar Neagle in trade; exercise contract options on 10 players

D.C. United have kicked off the offseason with a series of roster moves.


The club announced on Monday have acquired winger Lamar Neagle from Seattle Sounders FC in exchange for general allocation money and targeted allocation money. In a separate move, United traded Chris Pontius to the Philadelphia Union in exchange for general allocation money and targeted allocation money. Per league and club policy, additional terms of both deals were not disclosed.


In addition, D.C. United have announced the year-end roster moves for the 2016 season on Monday, exercising the options of the teamā€™s leading assist man FabiĆ”n EspĆ­ndola and nine other players.


United also exercised the 2016 options of defenders Sean Franklin, Steve Birnbaum, Taylor Kemp, Chris Korb and Luke Mishu, goalkeeper Travis Worra, forward Conor Doyle, and midfielders Miguel Aguilar and Jared Jeffrey.  


The 2016 options of Jairo Arrieta and Michael Farfan were declined, and both players are eligible for the Re-Entry Draft. Argentine Facundo Coria was waived.



Starting midfielder Perry Kitchen and reserve goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra are both of out of contract.  The club is currently in contract negotiations with both players.
