Conway gives cleats to San Jose kids

Quakes 'keeper Jon Conway handed out soccer cleats to kids on July 1.

San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper Jon Conway, a San Francisco resident, helped kick off the month of July by helping local kids on Thursday, July 1 at St. Mary's Park & Recreation Center in San Francisco.

In conjunction with the Bay Area SCORES program, Conway distributed over 50 soccer cleats to children in the SCORES program, while also talking to the kids about achieving their goals. Following the shoe distribution, the children took shots on the Quakes goalkeeper, who then signed autographs for the crowd.

The Bay Area SCORES program is an after-school program that combines innovative and unique features like creative writing with a team sport program with a comprehensive youth development curriculum and interscholastic games. Bay Area SCORES offers public school teachers as after-school coaches and writing mentors as the students participate at the school and nearby community parks five days a week.

The Earthquakes have been actively involved in the Bay Area SCORES program and will continue to help the children of the Bay Area.
