Colorado Rapids head coach Robin Fraser on returning to play after nearly two weeks off

After struggling to get results after the MLS restart, Robin Fraser and the Colorado Rapids had finally gotten something going recently, securing three wins in their last four games. Then COVID-19 stopped that progress. With a total of 15 confirmed cases (four players and 11 staff members) and two postponed games, the Rapids haven’t had much time to train as they look ahead to their match against LAFC on Wednesday (9 pm ET | TV & streaming info).

In a press conference on Tuesday, Fraser described the unplanned break as “certainly inconvenient,” it’s just one more challenge in a year that has been “riddled with challenges."

"You’re not going to hear anyone here whine about not being able to train because of this. This is the year it is and we've just gone through this, this you know, this kind of impactful situation with our team, and it is what it is, and we just have to get on with it.”

Since league play resumed at the end of August, teams have been facing a condensed schedule. For the Rapids, adding two more rescheduled games makes the schedule even tighter.

“We've pictured a scenario where you'd have to play a lot of games in a short period of time, and be able to play back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back. And certainly, our depth will be called into play and some luck will be involved. But we look forward to it as a challenge and another challenge of this year.”
