he must be fab!
THE NEWS: We interrupt this TCS for your Planet LA Hollywood Minute, brought to you by Constantino's House of Botox and Yoga.
THE NEWS: What was your fave moment of the week? Was it:
A) Creepy Scott "Sausage Fingers" Savol finally getting dumped off of "American Idol" (quick aside, my girl Carrie needs to step it up a bit).
B) The news breaking that Paula Abdul, who has miraculously beaten out Jay Leno as the least entertaining person on TV, had some extra-curricular activity going on with a former "Idol" contestant.
C) Your old pal Tino catching a foul ball on the fly at Dodger Stadium Wednesday night (has anyone out there ever done that? Have to admit, it was kinda fun).
D) Pat O'Brien exorcising his demons on Dr. Phil, becoming the latest celeb to do something really awful, then use TV or a book deal for a mea culpa and step right back into the public eye. Amazing this happened to occur in the middle of the television sweeps period. What a shock, it couldn't have been better for CBS if it had been planned out. Oh. Wait a sec...
THE NEWS: Talk never seems to stop swirling about Metro's goalkeeping situation.
TCS SAYS: With Jonny Walker injured (and probably still not feeling the love from the top) and Zach Wells untested, it seems there are always rumblings about the Metro goalkeepers. Irony is, last I checked no MLS team had given up fewer goals than Metro. For those wondering about Tony Meola as a possible solution to their "problems," this from writer Ives Galarcep in New Jersey: "One candidate that isn't likely to be considered is Tony Meola. He seems like a good fit, but Bradley would sooner put Eddie Gaven in goal than bring the controversial World Cup veteran into his locker room." Wow.
THE NEWS: MLS might have to start a new award: The Sierra Mist Best Goal Aided By Some Seriously Soft Goalkeeping.
TCS SAYS:
The early fave was Ronnie O'Brien's Week 3 bending Hail Mary against Chivas rookie Brad Guzan, which earned Goal of the Week but never should have happened. But MLS MVP Amado Guevara put himself up for the award with his no-angle bomb against the Rapids last weekend, a Goal of the Week finalist (

). It was a laser beam, but let's be honest, the normally-reliable Cannon looked awful on that one, didn't he? Yikes, if the Rapids don't have Cannon's heroics to fall back on this year, MLS may be forced to convene an emergency session of the competition committee and institute relegation immediately.
THE NEWS: Columbus has not scored a goal in 244 minutes and lost three of its last four.
TCS SAYS: Oh wait, it is May, I almost forgot: time to start the annual Greg Andrulis Sack Watch. It really seemed to bother him last year, you know, as his team reeled off 79 consecutive matches without a loss after everyone (present company included) said if he lost that one home game on national TV that was it.
THE NEWS: No team has lost a game when leading at halftime in MLS this season.
TCS SAYS: In a related note, no team has won a game when trailing at halftime. To quote the late, great Mel Allen: "How about that?"
THE NEWS: Alleging suppliers of the fast-food chain mistreat chickens, Pam Anderson has called for a boycott of KFC.
TCS SAYS: You want to say it or should I?
THE NEWS: The Galaxy's Pando Ramirez has taken a league-leading 19 shots in just four matches (Taylor Twellman also has 19, but in five games).
TCS SAYS: Ramirez may have the shot selection of Dominique Wilkins and will definitely hit enough balls into the 30th row to warrant an NFL kicking tryout, but it says here he will definitely have a Goal of the Year finalist, and don't be surprised if one of his laser beams takes the award.

WHAT I'LL BE WATCHING:
Saturday - QUAKES at METROSTARS (4 p.m. ET on The Deuce): While neither of these teams have necessarily covered themselves in glory overall this season, they both did show signs of life last weekend, so here's hoping this is a good one. Besides, can't be any worse than last week's game on The Deuce.
Saturday - REAL AT CHIVAS USA (7 p.m. ET on Fox Soccer Channel): It is plainly obvious that RSL has a team that can compete in MLS and Chivas USA just doesn't have the horses yet. But the Goats did show some bottle in the rain last weekend in Foxborough, so this one is worth a look.
Sunday - JUVENTUS AT AC MILAN (9 a.m. ET on Gol TV): Since ESPN wouldn't show us Milan-PSV in the Champions League semifinals here in the U.S., this is your chance to check out the team that many have long fancied to win the whole thing. As an aside to our friends at Gol TV, put more upcoming programming on the English side of your website - as of Wednesday, I could not find the upcoming weekend's games without going to your Spanish site or over to another website like soccertv.com. You are getting more carriage these days, so that needs to be sorted out now.
