Christian Pulisic subbed out of CANvUSA due to "flu-like symptoms," fever, says Berhalter

The US national team's Concacaf Nations League match at Canada on Tuesday seemed to go from bad to worse in the 60th minute when USMNT star Christian Pulisic was substituted out, in the process showing his obvious frustration at the course of a nightmarish evening for the visitors at BMO Field.

Three minutes later ex-Vancouver Whitecaps star Alphonso Davies would score the first of Les Rouges' two goals en route to a massive 2-0 win for the hosts, while USMNT fans were left to wonder what had happened to their team's attacking wunderkind. Head coach Gregg Berhalter addressed the reason for Pulisic's early exit in his postgame remarks:

It's the latest setback in a difficult fall for Pulisic, who has found playing time relatively hard to come by at his new club, English giants Chelsea FC. And MLSsoccer.com personality and Extratime host Andrew Wiebe concurred with Berhalter's decision:

Pulisic and the rest of the USMNT return to action in a month's time, when they host Canada in the return fixture of Tuesday's Concacaf Nations League clash, a Nov. 15 meeting at Orlando's Exploria Stadium that looms even larger in the wake of the Canucks' big home win.
