Christian Pulisic held out with slight injury, but Chelsea advance in FA Cup

Christian Pulisic - Chelsea - Man City goal

Christian Pulisic has been tearing up the English Premier League since the restart, but the US men's national team star did not feature in Chelsea's FA Cup matchup with Manchester United on Saturday as he nurses what coach Frank Lampard is calling a "slight injury".

As it turned out, Chelsea wouldn't need him for this one, as they cruised to a 3-1 victory over Man U to advance to the FA Cup final, where they're now set for a London derby matchup against Arsenal.

Olivier Giroud found the opener in the 11th minute of first-half stoppage time for Chelsea, before Mason Mount doubled the advantage just one minute after second-half kickoff. A 74th-minute own goal off Harry Maguire would add the insurance, ensuring that an 85th-minute penalty kick from Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes would be of no consequence.

Each of Chelsea's first two goals came on plays to forget for Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, who flubbed what probably should have been saves on the tallies from Giroud and Mount.

The result sets up what will certainly be a highly-anticipated rivalry clash with Arsenal, so Chelsea and USMNT fans will hope that Pulisic's knock is indeed a minor one and he'll be able to suit up for that contest with the first trophy of his Blues career on the line.
