Chivas USA forward Ante Razov was voted as Major League Soccer's Player of the Week after scoring two goals to help Chivas USA clinch a playoff spot with a 2-1 victory over the Kansas City Wizards.
Razov's first goal came in the 69th minute when Ramon Nuñez split the defense with a pass to Francisco Mendoza, who slotted the ball to the far post where Razov buried the ball the in the back of the net. Then, two minutes into stoppage time, Razov won the game when he curled a 22-yarder past Kansas City Goalkeeper Kevin Hartman.
Razov's two goal performance helped him surpass Jason Kreis on the MLS career goal scoring list. With 109 career goals, Razov sits just two goals behind D.C. United forward Jaime Moreno. For the season, Razov has 11 goals and eight assists. This is Razov's second Player of the Week honor this season and ninth of his career.
With the win, Chivas USA clinched a berth in the playoffs and moved to the top of the Western Conference and within two points of D.C. United, the current overall leader in the MLS Standings. Chivas USA is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 29 when they host the Chicago Fire at 10:30 p.m. ET.
