Chivas 2, Revolution 0 -- quote sheet

CHIVAS USA 2, NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION 0

CHIVAS USA HEAD COACH PREKI

About the game:
"I think it was a great win, from the first moment I thought we were pretty good, we had many opportunities in the first half that were we couldn't really connect in the end with the final pass, the final ball. And that was something we talked about at halftime and we came out in the second half well."

About Claudio Suarez's red card:
"The tussling the wrestling it always happens in the game, and the referee always sees the last one. The referee saw that one and that was Claudio's, and there really wasn't anything to talk about. Claudio used his full arm and I don't think it was an elbow, I think it was a forearm."

CHIVAS USA MIDFIELDER JESSE MARSCH

About his goal:
"I felt like that at halftime I wanted to try to get into the attack a little bit more, try to make some plays going forward, I saw a chance to go into the attack and Ante turned right and laid off a nice ball and I was able to hit it pretty well."

About the win:
"Very important, we needed three points, our team is doing very well we've lost only one in the last seven, now we will miss Claudio and Paulo [Nagamura] for next game ... in the end we needed three points because the next one is going to be tough."

CHIVAS USA GOALKEEPER PRESTON BURPO

About the game:
"It's good for the club, we got beaten badly in Houston and everyone tonight had a good mentality, so for the club earning three points tonight makes everyone happy."

About his clean sheet:
"I was a little lucky tonight; I was able to settle down. New England was slow from the start a bit, we played well the first 20 minutes, got me a few touches, it was good for me and I am happy to be part of it."

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION HEAD COACH STEVE NICOL

On the team's overall performance:
"We didn't look after each other with the ball. We gave bad balls. When you do that it's the fundamentals of the game, passing and controlling the ball. And we didn't pass it, and we didn't control it. So you end up getting what you got tonight."

On the team's inconsistency:
"Well it's a tough league, you know. We've had players away in the Gold Cup. There are a lot of things that you guys probably don't think about. This is Ralston's first game for two weeks. He's been away from his home and his family, Taylor [Twellman] has been away, Parkhurst's been away, and we have two guys playing the central midfield for the first time together. There are a lot of reasons, but it really boils down to the fundamentals. If you don't pass it and control it, you aren't getting in."

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION DEFENDER MICHAEL PARKHURST

On the initial thoughts on the game:
"It was a disappointing effort for us today. We expect more out of ourselves, and we'll turn it around next week. We'll be taking it really serious when we go back home. We'll go out there and prove ourselves."

On adjustments for the future:
"Just simple things. Just get a better attitude. Just go out there and fight more. Just do the basic things, just pass the ball, finish the ball. Everything, do everything better. Defend as a team better. Close them down. Just take the game to them ... every team has some good games and bad games. We'll smooth it out over the course of the year. Were still in first place in the east, so were not playing that bad."

On the passing tonight:
"It was below par for our standards. That's one thing that we try and dominate a team on week in and week out. We definitely didn't do that tonight. Now anytime we have a performance like that passing the ball we're disappointed in ourselves, because that's something we take pride in."
