The Chicago Fire announced on Monday that the club and David Arshakyan have mutually agreed to terminate the forward’s contract.

Arshakyan was signed by Chicago on Aug. 3, 2016. He made 16 regular season appearances for the Fire, but failed to score a goal or notch an assist. The Armenian international played just seven times in 2017, totaling just 27 minutes and zero starts in regular season play.

“Despite the best efforts of both sides, these past 16 months did not work out as either would have hoped,” Fire GM Nelson Rodriguez said in a statement released by the club. “We wish David the best of luck as he continues his career.”
