Chicago Fire acquire Brazilian U-20 international Rodrigo Ramos on loan

Rodrigo Ramos - Chicago Fire - playing for Coritiba

The Chicago Fire added to their new-look roster on Wednesday with the announcement they have acquired defender Rodrigo Ramos on loan for the season from Brazilian club Coritiba. Ramos will be added to the roster upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P-1 visa.

Ramos, 19, is a Brazilian Under-20 international and participated in the 2015 U-20 World Cup, the same tournament that current Fire head coach Veljko Paunovic won as Serbia's head coach.

"I saw Rodrigo play during the FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand and he left an impression with me. He is a young player with lots of potential and we hope he will seize this opportunity with the Fire," Paunovic said in a team statement.

Ramos made his pro debut for Coritiba in June, making nine appearances for the Coxa Branca.

"Rodrigo is a dynamic outside back with lots of range," said Fire general manager Nelson Rodríguez. "He can cover the flank and gets into the attack consistently well."
