Fanendo Adi’s accolades following his performance this past Saturday night in the Portland Timbers’ 3-2 win over Real Salt Lake keep rolling in.
The newly acquired forward, named MLS Player of the Week on Monday, also earned top honors in the Castrol Index Weekly Top 20 following his two-goal performance against RSL, his second brace since joining the Timbers on a short-term loan from FC Copenhagen several weeks ago.
Following Adi, goalkeepers snagged the next two spots.
Columbus Crew’s Steve Clark, who made a stoppage-time penalty kick save, came in at No. 2 following his clean sheet in a scoreless draw Saturday against D.C. United. And Toronto FC’s Joe Bendik took the No. 3 spot after a clean sheet of his own in a 1-0 win Saturday over the San Jose Earthquakes.
Philadelphia Union veteran striker Conor Casey, who also bagged a brace in the Union’s scintillating 3-3 draw Saturday against the Vancouver Whitecaps, came in at No. 4. Casey’s teammate, Vincent Nogueira, rounded out the top five thanks to his assist in the same game.
