Canadian star Jonathan David nets goal for new club Lille OSC in friendly

Jonathan David – Canada – dribbles past Cuban defender

It's early, and it was just a friendly, but Canadian standout Jonathan David seems to be settling in just fine with his new club.

The 20-year-old forward was transferred to Lille OSC of Ligue 1 from Belgian side Gent last week, and took the field for the club's scrimmage with Stade Brestois 29 on Sunday, netting a goal in the 35th minute with a close-range finish of a cross that came in from the right side.

The goal turned out to be Lille's only tally in a 2-1 defeat, but that's a good way to start it off for David, who is carrying some high expectations after his prolific goal-scoring earned him the transfer to the French club for a fee that was reportedly€30 million.

He scored 30 goals in 60 appearances during his tenure with Gent and has 11 goals in 12 senior caps for Canada.
