Canadian Exports: Dejan Jakovic loses two in Japan, Kenny Stamatopoulos in action for AIK Stockholm

Dejan Jakovic is incredulous

For most Canadians abroad, now’s the time to focus on recovering from a long season, trying to shore up next year’s club situation and – of course – kicking back to watch as much of the World Cup as possible.

But for a few Canadian players, there’s still work to be done.

Dejan Jakovic had a tough week in Japan with Shimizu S-Pulse, going the full 90 on both Wednesday and Sunday in a pair of shutout losses. He picked up a yellow card against Kashima Antlers on the weekend.

Over in Sweden, Kenny Stamatopoulos got back on the field for AIK Stockholm after three weeks on the bench, backstopping his side to a 4-2 win over Brommapojkarna.

And up in Finland, goalkeeper David Monsalve and midfielder Dominic Oppong went the distance twice for AC Oulu, in Wednesday’s 3-0 loss to PK-35 Vantaa, and then on Sunday’s 2-1 victory against Viikingit.
