Canada vs. U.S. in Gold Cup semis

After an emphatic 3-0 trouncing of Guatemala this past weekend, the Canadian Men's National Team have booked their spot in the semifinals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The Gold Cup is the championship of the CONCACAF region which is made up of the national associations of North, Central America and the Caribbean. Canada is one of only three nations to have won this tournament when they claimed the prize in 2000; fellow semifinalists U.S.A. and Mexico are the other two teams.

Greg Sutton, Adam Braz and Chris Pozniak make up the Toronto FC contingent of Canada's Gold Cup team and the trio, along with their teammates, will face the U.S. on Thursday, June 21st at Soldier Field in Chicago.

Canada has faced the U.S. twice in Gold Cup competition barely losing out in both encounters, but as witnessed with Toronto FC, a new era of Canadian Soccer has dawned and support for the red and white is spreading across the country. The semi-final game will be aired live at 7 p.m. ET on Rogers Sportsnet East and Pacific.
