Canada Under-17s crush Curacao, move one win away from U17 World Cup

Canada are now just one win away from qualifying for the 2019 Under-17 FIFA World Cup after crushing Curaçao 4-0 in the Concacaf Championship Round of 16.


Entering the final 15 minutes, Canada only held a narrow 1-0 lead before exploding for three late goals scored by MLS academy products Kamron Habibullah (Vancouver Whitecaps), Simon Colyn (Vancouver Whitecaps) and Jayden Nelson (Toronto FC). A total of 12 of Canada's 14 players who featured in the match hailed from MLS clubs.


Canada will next face Costa Rica in the quarterfinals on Sunday, May 12 for one of four berths to the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Brazil later this year.


The Canadians are seeking to qualify for their seventh U-17 World Cup and the first one since 2013.
