Canada national team roster for prestigious Toulon Tournament released

John Herdman - Canada - June 2015

Canada national team head coach John Herdman has named a 20-man squad to participate in the 2018 Toulon Tournament in France.

The U-21 invitational tournament, regarded as one of the most prestigious non-World Cup youth tournaments in global soccer, will take place from May 26 to June 9 around Provence, France.

Among the call-ups for the Canada roster are two Montreal Impact first-team members: goalkeeper James Pantemis and midfielder Shamit Shome, as well as two Toronto FC players, midfielder Aidan Daniels and defender Julian Dunn, and one Vancouver Whitecaps FC first-team player, David Norman, Jr.

“This is an important development opportunity for our young players as they continue along the pathway representing Canada Soccer’s men’s national team in international soccer,” said Herdman, in a Canada Soccer statement.

Canada will play Portugal on May 28, Turkey on May 31, and Japan on June 3 in Group C play.
