AMSTERDAM – Belgian side Genk have registered an interest in LA Galaxy attacker Gyasi Zardes, MLSsoccer.com has confirmed.

A source close to the situation said that Genk, who finished seventh out of 16 teams in last year's Belgian Pro League, recently made an approach for the US international, as originally reported by Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws last Thursday.

Zardes was also linked by German reports with an approach from 1860 Munich last week, although the source told MLSsoccer.com this was inaccurate. ESPN analyst Taylor Twellman reported Monday that multiple European clubs have interest in signing Zardes, either during the current European transfer window or during the MLS offseason.

The 23-year-old competed in the AT&T MLS All-Star Game, helping set up David Villa's game-winning goal, and has five goals and two assists in 21 MLS outings this season. Zardes has also notched a pair of goals and three helpers in 12 caps for the US national team.
