â€“ Austin FC added four current players to its inaugural season roster in the 2020 MLS Expansion Draft on Tuesday night. The newest MLS club traded away its fifth and final pick once the trade window reopened following the event.
With the first pick in the 2020 MLS Expansion Draft, Austin FC selected San Jose Earthquakes forward Danny Hoesen, who has 23 career goals and 12 assists in his four MLS seasons.
Austin FC’s second and third picks included a pair of young talents in 24-year-old New York Red Bulls midfielder Jared Stroud, who dished out three assists in his 21 games last season, and 21-year-old Nashville SC goalkeeper Brady Scott, a U.S. Youth International who won CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying in 2018, also earning Golden Glove as the best goalkeeper at the Concacaf U-20 Championship.
With the fourth pick in the 2020 MLS Expansion Draft, Austin FC added some experience by selecting LA Galaxy midfielder and U.S. international Joe Corona, who comes with Liga MX experience as an influential member of the Club Tijuana side that earned promotion into the Primera División during his tenure. With the Galaxy, Corona’s 38 starts in 47 appearances have produced three assists and two goals.
Austin FC selected Orlando City SC defender Kamal Miller, who earned 23 starts in 28 career appearances over his two seasons.
