Austin FC Designated Player Cecilio Dominguez scores stunning goal for Club Guarani

Cecilio Dominguez - Guarani - September 2020

For Austin FC fans watching Nashville SCā€™s remarkable run in the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs wishing that could be them next year, hereā€™s a goal to get excited about.

Cecilio Dominguez, the 2021 expansion clubā€™s first Designated Player, scored his third league goal for Club Guarani in the Paraguayā€™s Primera Division Clausura Sunday.

The 26-year-old, on loan with Guarani until the end of the year, started the scoring sequence by running at the Sportivo Luqueno center backs before playing a quick combination with Raul Bobadilla that sent him into the box. Dominguez chipped a defender with his first touch and then fired past the goalkeeper from outside the six-yard box to double Guaraniā€™s lead in the 70th minute.

Dominguez, who signed with Austin FC from Argentine club Independiente in August, came on just five minutes earlier. He replaced Rodney Reyes, the 20-year-old Paraguayan forward who was Austin FCā€™s first signing in July.
