Goal of the Matchday

Atlanta United's Kevin Kratz wins Week 9 AT&T Goal of the Week honors

Atlanta United fans pack Mercedes-Benz Stadium for their team’s home matches, as their possession of the three biggest single-game crowds in MLS history shows.

And they also turn out in numbers when their players are nominated for AT&T Goal of the Week.

Five Stripes midfielder Kevin Kratz has won the Week 9 GOTW race by a mile, his wicked free kick – the first of two he netted off the bench in Atlanta’s 4-1 defeat of Montreal on Saturday – racking up an impressive 80 percent of votes cast.

Orlando's Cristian Higuita finished a distant second (8 percent), followed by Philadelphia's Borek Dockal (7 percent), Minnesota's Ibson (4 percent) and Toronto's Victor Vazquez (1 percent).

Kratz's winning goal was his first of the year and second of his MLS career, and it proved the game-winner as ATLUTD extended their MLS-best seven-game unbeaten run.
