Carlos Vela might have had the most productive statistical season, with an MLS-record 34 goals go to along with 15 assists last year, but it’s Josef Martinez who claims the honor of best single season in MLS history.
The Venezuelan forward shattered the league’s single-season goals mark with 31 goals to go along with six assists in 34 regular season games in 2018, guiding Atlanta United to the MLS Cup title.
He garnered more than half of the total vote (59.65 precent), with Vela’s 2019 coming in second at 21.17 Sebastian Giovinco, who had 22 goals and 16 assists in 33 games in 2015, finished third with 7.35 percent of the vote.
Rounding out the top five are Diego Valeri’s 2017 (2.27 percent) and Carlos Valderrama’s 2000 season with the Tampa Bay Mutiny (1.81 percent). Here's the voting results.
