Angel arrives: Introduction on Tuesday

SECAUCUS, NJ - Red Bull New York will formally introduce its newest player, Juan Pablo Angel, to the local media on Tuesday, April 24 after the Red Bulls' training session at approximately 1 p.m. ET at the team's Montclair State University training facility. The Red Bulls training session will be open to the media and will run from 10:30 a.m. ET to approximately 12:15 p.m. ET.


Angel arrived in New Jersey on Sunday night, April 22, trained with the Red Bulls on Monday and is expected to train Tuesday as well. Angel is still awaiting the approval of his work visa before he can play in regular season matches.


The Red Bulls announced Angel's acquisition last Tuesday over a conference call. The former Aston Villa forward and Colombian international had played in the English Premiership since 2000, notching 62 goals in 205 games played. This stint included an impressive 2003-04 season, where he netted 23 goals in 38 games in all competitions. On the international level, Angel, 31, has appeared for his national team on 18 occasions, scoring four goals. Angel joins midfielder Claudio Reyna as the team's second designated player.
