AMSTERDAM – Championship side Charlton have extended defender Oguchi Onyewu's short-term contract through the end of the season.
The 32-year-old back line cop was signed as a free agent to a three-month deal in October, after the Addicks sent center back Michael Morrison on loan to Birmingham City. With the Brums set to exercise their buy option on that player once the January transfer window opens, Onyewu will now be sticking around The Valley until summer.
The former USMNT star made just his second Charlton appearance in their 1-1 draw with Cardiff City on Friday. Onyewu and his teammates will look to halt a six-game win drought and climb from 11th place when they travel to Ipswich Town on Tuesday.
