American Exports: New manager, new era for DaMarcus Beasley and struggling Puebla

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – DaMarcus Beasley and Puebla travel to Guadalajara to face Chivas this weekend (Sunday, 6 pm ET, UniMas), with the American winger under yet another coach at the club.


Manuel Lapuente left and was replaced by Argentine Rubén Omar Romano during the week, with La Franja without a win in their first five games of the Apertura season.


Fellow American Michael Orozco Fiscal, meanwhile, is likely to miss out due to a hamstring injury that caused him to withdraw from the US national team’s trip to Bosnia.


On Friday evening, Gold Cup winner Jose Torres travels with his Tigres UANL squad to Santos Laguna (10:30 pm ET, Univision Deportes) looking to build on last weekend’s win against archrivals Monterrey.



Facing Los Rayados this weekend is Club Tijuana, with their band of Americans – Edgar Castillo, Joe Corona, Greg Garza and Paul Arriola – all gunning for playing time in the Estadio Tecnológico (Saturday, 8 pm ET, UniMas). Texan Alonso Hernandez will be hoping for minutes for Monterrey.


In Mexico’s Ascenso MX, Marco Vidal’s Lobos BUAP hosts Merida on Friday (7 pm ET), while Sonny Guadarrama’s Necaxa feature at home to Atletico San Luis (9 pm ET). Also Friday, Jesus Padilla and Dorados de Sinaloa are in Guadalajara to play Universidad de Guadalajara (9:30 pm ET).



In Costa Rica, FC Dallas loanee Moises Hernandez and Saprissa play UCR on Sunday (1:30 pm ET).


Finally, in Brazil, Freddy Adu’s Bahia hosts Santos on Sunday (5:30 pm ET).
