AMSTERDAM – Carlos Bocanegra was removed at the break with an undetermined knock as Racing Santander closed the Spanish Adelantedivision season with a 3-0 home victory over Hércules.
On loan from Scottish club Rangers, Boca nearly scored in the 11th minute, but his attempt cleared off the line.
Racing finished the season with three wins and four clean sheets from a five-game unbeaten run, but it was too little and too late to save their Segunda División status. The club has already been relegated and will play in Segunda División B next year.
No word yet on Bocanegra's future plans.
