American Exports: Bradley, Chievo fall late to Inter

Michael Bradley in action with Chievo Verona

AMSTERDAM — A handful of Americans suited up under Friday night lights in Europe, with Michael Bradley among Chievo's best performers in a hard-luck 2-0 home loss to Inter Milan.

The US midfielder moved to left midfield on the night and proved dangerous with a few crosses that ended in poor finishes by teammates. The game was scoreless until three minutes remained, but goals from Walter Samuel and Diego Milito earned Inter their first win in nine Serie A games.

Over in the Bundesliga, Andrew Wooten went unused in Kaiserslautern's 0-0 stalemate at Stuttgart. Now winless in eight league matches and without a goal for 297 minutes, the Red Devils spurned another chance to vault out of the cellar.

One league below, Matt Taylor had a quiet day up front as Paderborn settled for a 0-0 draw against guests Bochum. The result dropped them to three points off the 2.Bundesliga lead and put their hold on the second automatic promotion place in jeopardy over the weekend.

Next door in the Dutch second flight, Charles Kazlauskas went the distance on right wing as Helmond Sport stayed in control of a promotion playoff berth with a 2-1 win over his former emplyers, FC Oss. The fifth-place North Brabant side have now won four of five and are unbeaten in 10.
