AMSTERDAM — After a roller-coaster summer transfer saga, Scottish champs Rangers have finally captured US midfielder Alejandro Bedoya from Swedish side Örebro SK.

The two clubs agreed to a fee on Wednesday, allowing the 24-year-old to ink a three-year pact with the Ibrox crew, which also employs US teammate Maurice Edu. Bedoya had previously signed a pre-deal to join Rangers when his Örebro contract was set to run out at year's end.

"We came to an agreement today," ÖSK executive Magnus Sköldmark told MLSsoccer.com on Wednesday. "We are really happy with Alejandro's performance and contributions to the club during his years here. His development the last six to 10 months has been excellent and we want to wish him success with Rangers.

After joining out of Boston College in 2009, Bedoya notched nine goals and seven assists in 63 league games for Örebro.

If he cannot be registered in time for Thursday's Europa League playoff round visit to Slovenian side Maribor, Bedoya will have the chance to make his Rangers debut at first-place Motherwell on Sunday.
